a) Robaim Choun Por (Blessing Dance)
Robaim Choun Por or Blessing Dance is a perennial favorite. By tradition, Cambodian marks special events with certain dances from the repertoire of Cambodian classical ballet. To mark the occasion such as this event for young professionals, a performance of blessing dance is in order. This blessing dance features the dancers tossing flower petals, symbolically representing good wishes falling from the heavens and bestowed upon the audience. This dance often performed for special state occasions in Cambodia.
b) Robaim Manosanchetana (Sentiment Dance)
Robaim Manosanchetana was choreographed in the 1980’s by dancers of the Royal University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh to provide dancers, particularly, dance students, with an opportunity to express their sentiments in front of the audience. In the tradition of the Cambodian classical ballet, some dances were used as instructional devices to teach students to master the intricate gestures and movements relevant to the art.
In this dance, we are presented with romantic interlude between a prince and princess, experiencing the joy of their encounter, the passion of their time together and the bitter sweet movement when they must depart.
